Its operations are divided into four business sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its roughly 440 subsidiaries and regional companies in some 60 countries. Including its sales and service partners, Bosch is represented in roughly 150 countries. The Mobility Solutions business sector, one of the world’s largest automotive suppliers, accounts for 59 percent of total sales. Its main areas of activity are injection technology and powertrain peripherals for internal combustion engines, diverse solutions for powertrain electrification, steering systems, safety and driver assistance systems, technology for user-friendly infotainment as well as vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, repair-shop concepts, and technology and services for the automotive aftermarket. The business unit Driver Assistance with approx. 600 employees, located in Leonberg / Germany, is investigating and developing different sensor technologies for automotive driver assistance and safety applications, like radar sensors, ultrasonic sensors and video sensors and the corresponding applications and systems that are based on these sensors. The research department “new products in chassis systems” is dedicated to research and development of advanced systems with a focus on vehicle motion, safety and comfort. The all-encompassing goal of the department is comfortable, pleasant, safe and assisted or automated driving.

Role in the project

Bosch, as a manufacturer of environment sensors for advanced driver assistant systems, within interACT helps to contribute to a next generation of perception hardware and software components and concepts. Based on the results from user studies, Bosch will investigate new approaches such as using an improved long- term intention recognition of other traffic participants in target scenarios for interaction planning. Moreover, the perception of intention and interaction features will be examined and improved. Furthermore, the application of smartphone as a cooperative sensor to support the localization and intention recognition will be evaluated. Bosch will also contribute to building up an experimental vehicle and support the system integration for testing and validating the project’s results.
